Best Guide To Remove Scale From Your Washing Machine

Some of the parts inside your washing machine should require cleaning regularly: the powder container, pump, and cuffs. If you have never tried cleaning your washing machine, we will tell you what parts you should look after and how you should go about doing this to keep your washer in tip-top shape.

Drain pump

It is located on the front of the washing machine in the form of a small square cover. You may want to put on gloves for this. Place a bowl near it, open this “door,” and remove the plug/cork you see. At this point, water may spill out of the hose. You may immediately see a significant amount of dirt behind the plug: a lot of wool, hair, and other things from your clothing. Remove all the dirt, then wipe everything until dry. It is necessary to clean this place twice a month.

Container for powder and fabric conditioner

You can even meet fungus in this place so don’t ignore cleaning it. The container is easily removable, so take it out and rinse well. Clean it with a sponge or toothbrush. Scale build-up can be removed using special cleaning detergents. Pour the appropriate amount inside and leave for 1-2 hours. This part should be cleaned after every 5th washing cycle.

Drum

First, of all, pour 3.5 oz of bleach inside and turn the washing machine on at 140°F. After that, add 2 packs of citric acid to the drum. Start the washing with the highest temperature and load size. Double rinse mode will help to remove scale.

Cuff (rubber seal)

Apply some soda, dry detergent, or bleach onto a sponge. Pull the rubber band towards you to wipe the metal part of the case. Rinse the rubber as well. Pull at it carefully to avoid stretching and damaging. Wipe it thoroughly after that with a damp cloth.

Tubular heating element

This is a very sensitive part of the washing machine since it is most prone to breakages. In most cases, it happens because of rust! Take 5 packs of citric acid. Pour four of them in the powder container and the last one in the drum. Turn on the washing machine at 200°F. During draining, you can watch how dirty rust pieces leave the washer. Do this cleaning twice a month (depending on how often you use the machine).

Don’t forget to take the time to clean your washing machine, just as all appliances in the house need regular care. The cleaning process may be quite long, but doing so will ensure that you maintain excellent washing performance.
