My wife has been preparing for weeks for her 37th big birthday party. The only problem is that my best friend is getting married on the same day.
I asked her many times to postpone, but she said, “I can’t change my birth date.”
I told her, “Sorry. My friend will get married only once, while you’ll have a birthday every year.” She was calm and understanding.
I go to the wedding, and in the evening, while I am there, I get a text from a private number. I started shaking and couldn’t believe my eyes as I read the words: “Don’t bother coming home tonight. Your wife won’t be there.”
I start panicking and call my wife repeatedly, but she doesn’t pick up. I leave the wedding party early and go home to see what’s going on.
I find my wife just arriving from her party, and she starts laughing sarcastically. With a smirk, she says, “I am happy I ruined the night for you just like you ruined my party! This will teach you to prefer anybody else over your wife in the future.”
I was really shocked by how things unfolded. I thought she would understand me, but it’s clearly not the case. I even ended up doubting my decision and regretting it. Was I wrong to do what I did?
