Woman Finds Missing Engagement Ring on a Carrot After 13 Years

In a touching 2017 story, Mary Grams from Alberta, Canada, found her engagement ring around a carrot in her garden, 13 years after losing it.

Mary had lost the ring in 2004 while working on her farm. Despite searching for days, she couldn’t find it and thought it was gone forever. She never expected such a surprising twist.

Mary’s daughter-in-law made the discovery when she picked an odd-looking carrot from the garden. To everyone’s surprise, the carrot had Mary’s engagement ring around its root. It was a joyful and unbelievable moment for Mary and her family.

Mary recalled losing the ring, saying she was in the garden and pulled a weed, which must have caught the ring and pulled it off. She had worn the ring since 1951, a year before marrying her husband, Norman. Despite searching for it, they couldn’t find the ring and thought it was gone for good.

Mary didn’t want to make her husband sad, so she kept the ring loss a secret and got herself a similar one. She explained, “I didn’t tell him because I thought for sure he’d give me heck or something.” She kept this little secret for over 13 years.

Even after leaving the farm, Mary and her family still cared for the garden, which had been in their family for over 105 years. When Mary’s daughter-in-law found the ring, she knew it had to be either her grandmother’s or her mother-in-law’s. After showing it to her husband, he confirmed it was Mary’s long-lost ring.

Mary was really happy to have her ring back after so long. She wants to wear it proudly and remember the good times. Even though her husband passed away more than five years ago, finding the ring brings back memories of their 60-year marriage.
